May is a time of reflection as we close out another chapter year at AMASV. As Chapter President I’ve been honored to work alongside such passionate colleagues, serving the greater Sacramento area. The relationships built through volunteering are ones that will last a lifetime. Our community is a special group and I’m proud to share the following highlights from our 2020-21 chapter year:
We welcomed a new collegiate chapter. We’re excited to share that William Jessup University in Rocklin launched its collegiate chapter, The William Jessup University Marketing Club, open to both undergraduate & graduate students.
AMASV signed the DEI Chapter Pledge, joining 46 other chapters across the country in a commitment to center and amplify BIPOC voices in our community & within our work as marketers. We are learning and building relationships every day. We are motivated to continue this work into the new chapter year and are excited to announce a new board role, VP, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). This position will help us better understand our community and ensure that we continue working toward creating more inclusive workplaces and representation in our work.
We awarded two local students with a scholarship. Congratulations to this year’s Outstanding Future Marketers- Hailey Millan & Dana Mollica. We are pleased to be able to continue helping local students pursue their career goals. Our 2021 scholarship expanded eligibility to a broader range of schools and concentrations, recognizing that marketers come from many backgrounds. Learn more about this year’s winners on our new YouTube channel.
We pivoted to free online programming in an effort to keep our community informed and connected. We are hoping to be able to offer a mix of in-person and online programming looking ahead. Follow us on Eventbrite to stay up to date on event announcements.
Our blog is back. Pivoting amidst the pandemic and Zoom fatigue our team began an exploratory series of conversations. We’ve been working on unique local stories to spotlight the Sacramento region’s people, topics, and trends. Our team is already working on some exciting conversations for our upcoming chapter year, stay connected on our social channels to catch new content as it drops.
Membership pricing decreased! Annual Memberships are now $149 for professionals & $29 for students! Professional group memberships are available for $119/pp for groups of 3 or more. AMA Membership provides access to professional certifications and training at a discounted rate, professional tools/templates, digital journal access, and a Discount/Affinity Plan that is tailored to marketers’ needs. Plus, members will get special pricing discounts as we resume our local in-person events.
Thank you to each of our dedicated volunteers for your support and dedication over the past year. Committing to a volunteer organization in a normal year is a big ask, let alone amidst a global pandemic and civil rights reconciliation. Our team stays committed to our community, as well as our mission to ensure that the Sacramento Valley is a great place for all marketers to grow, connect and engage.
I invite you to get involved as we transition into the 2021-22 chapter year ahead.
